I’ve spent years perfecting my iTunes music library: sorting genres, combing through duplicates and bad versions of songs, tweaking album information, all for the appreciation of simplicity and the perfect playlist. I love to create delicately balanced playlists that flow together like a symphony, blending into one another as if they were meant to be heard one after the other, destined to be played in that order. A playlist is like a living organism: I am continually deleting and adding, as new songs come along that blend perfectly into the balance, a fresh tune, a shiny piece of lyrical art to brighten the whole sound.
I feel inspired by my yoga practice and the stages of the power yoga flow: settling in, warming up, strengthening, twisting out, balancing, grounding, backbending, stretching, cooling down, meditating. This mix follows that flow, starting off slowly then the tempo increases with your heart rate, as you balance and reach you are inspired by freeing lyrics, then calming down with a subtle tremble and a quiet bass. The music flows with me and dances around me as I move and play to the tunes.
This is my favorite mix, inspired by the lovely Meghan Currie and reminiscent of honey, the thick sweetness moving slowly yet refreshing and inspiring. Unfortunately, a few of the more obscure songs, Catabombkid and Poolside, weren’t available on Rdio.

I was quite obsessed with organizing my playlist perfectly at one point too 🙂 Then I got a massive load of songs in one go and just gave up. If I had just updated 5 songs a day, my playlist would be so pretty today!
Anyhow, never heard any of the songs on that list. I think I’m going to try some out. I’m so intrigued by Yoga, but all I’ve ever done is the compulsory sessions we had at school 😦 But never too late to start, huh!

Yes, it definitely can get overwhelming! And no, it’s never too late to start yoga! I started with YouTube and DVDs until I felt comfortable to go to a class. It’s worth it – I promise!
