Long Beach, Koh Lanta, Thailand

I am walking along the beach, waves kiss my toes. I soak in the humid breeze, my nostrils devouring the thick scent of life. It rained today. The waves were tempestuous to the untrained eye, savage. But the sea, she matched my mood. Powerfully restless. Moving quickly, gracefully, yet some think she is erratic or dangerous. Do I?

No.

I trust her.

The sea and I, we are one, sharing similar restlessness and depth, anticipation and power, fear and freedom. I let her lap me up in her white-tipped arms and welcome me home.

  1. Jess, you have become a poet. Your experiences are so deftly caught in your wonderful pictures and your beautiful words. Thanks for letting us come with you, albeit vicariously.
